DeLonghi Delight
I finally did it. Ive been living without an oven for over a year now but last Wednesday I bought a DeLonghi countertop convection oven & rotisserie. I’ve been thinking about getting a toaster oven but when I went to Macy’s (who has been having good pre Christmas sales) and looked over the different models I found I could get a convection oven for about the same price. Actually the DeLonghi sale price was less than the toaster oven I was looking for. Woot!
Of course all the possible baked and roasted meals filled my head with carmelized food fantasies the first night. There were so many mouth watering, good things I wanted to make but what should be the first thing cooked in my discovery of convection cooking?
The answer to what would be cooked first was in the refrigerator. A few days before I had picked up some vegetables to throw in the crockpot with a roast. They were still sitting in the refrigerator because I kept forgetting to actually buy a roast. That was it! Just roast the vegetables without the roast beast. Since I love roasted, carmelized vegetables it was an easy decision.
One of the reasons I chose the DeLonghi over it’s Cusonart competition was that the broiler pan was enameled. The Cuisinart ones were all aluminum and will get all scratched up and stained over time. The other reasons were the extra height of the oven itself (for cooking the mustard coated roast beast), the rotisserie attachment included, the light inside the oven, twist dials (not digital) and the glass door. It’s also supposed to be nonstick inside the oven for easy cleanup but we’ll see how well that works.
