Happy Hearts Mochi

One of the benefits of living in such a multicultural city is all the different foods and that includes desserts.  If you are lucky enough to live in Honolulu you can get THE best handmade mochi from Renee @surfchik4jesus (Twitter link). Her business name is Happy Hearts Mochi.

If you’re wondering what mochi is it’s a rice cake made of rice pounded into paste and then molded into shape. As a dessert mochi is sweetened, flavored and often made into plump dumplings with flavorful fillings or fruit.

Last night a whole group of us met at a local small cafe (which we booked ahead of time) for a Mochi Tweetup and we packed the place. Had to turn people away even.  Renee had worked for a few days straight just to make all the delightful mochi treats we had each preordered.  The room was full of laughter and happy voices.  There was even a funny video made.  You’ve never seen a happier group of adults having fun and just eating dessert.
