Today’s Kitchen Booty
For a while I’ve been thinking of getting a new nonstick frying pan but have been putting it off because a friend told me not to buy nonstick pans because of the gasses they produce while cooking. Well, I’ve given it a try but have to admit I HATE cooking in pans that food sticks to. Last week I tried cooking hash browns in an iron pan and it was agony. The hash browns stuck to the bottom of the pan like lovers that hadn’t seen each other in a loooong time. Seriously.
This need for a new pan ended up being a good reason to check out the new Ross discount store in Waikiki. I went in on a mission to find a pan and hit the jackpot. I ended up buying an “eco-friendly” nonstick frying pan, 3 colorful knives, and a 5 piece set of kitchen utensils (in a groovy olive green color)! Good bye boring black knife and spatula handles… h-e-l-l-o colorful flatware drawer!
Check out these cool knife colors by Zyliss!

Before I bought them I looked the Zyliss brand up online on my phone and they look pretty reliable. I’ve been needing a new paring knife (not serrated) to cut veggies so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get the other 2 knives since together they were on sale for $9.99.

Nonstick pans need nylon or wooden utensils so it was perfect to find a set in groovy green nylon with stainless steel handles. I like the sturdy handles with the nylon. They just seem to offer more control & pressure when scooping or pressing on juicy hamburgers. Set of 5 was $6.99.
After looking through about 50 different frying pans I ended up finding an ecolution 11″ frying pan that is PFOA (greenhouse gasses) free for $11.99. Let the bacon fring begin & the hash browns rejoice!
